The Lighthouse Project

What is the Lighthouse Project?

The St James College Lighthouse for Athletes project is set up under the auspices of the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF). The project is a registered not-for-profit scheme designed to provide increased sporting participation and opportunity for students who, because of personal circumstances, may not have access to such experiences. Features of the project include the provision of sporting development opportunities, resources and equipment as well as financial aid to assist talented students to participate competitively at local, state and national levels.

What are the goals?

The promotion of self-discipline, initiative, self-esteem and teamwork are the ultimate goals of the project. By identifying and mobilising funding from the community, we aim to remove financial barriers that may inhibit the participation of students at all levels of sporting engagement.

What will the funds be used for?

St James College offers comprehensive co-curricular opportunities to all students. However, there are many students who, because of personal and family circumstances, cannot afford even the basic essentials required for participation. Through the Lighthouse for Athletes project, we aim to be able to purchase and supple essential sport-specific footwear, uniforms and other sporting equipment, as well as to provide for travel and registration costs.

How can you help?
