The next chapter in child protection legislation for Queensland

The Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services is seeking your views to inform the design of new legislation that will underpin the child protection and family support system.

An options paper has been released today to guide the second stage of public consultation to review the Child Protection Act 1999. Also released today was the quarterly performance data for the family support and child protection system for the 12 months to June 2016.

The data shows an increase in people reporting their concerns about children to Queensland authorities. It also shows 247 more notifications had an investigation commenced within required timeframes and 848 more investigations were finalised compared to the March quarter.
