What is the program about?
The UQ Refugee Tutoring Program is a 100% student led, volunteer run program which provides free tutoring for high school students from refugee backgrounds in Brisbane. Over time it is hoped that students will develop long lasting relationships with the tutors who will facilitate student’s studies ideally through to the completion of grade 12.
Who will tutor you?
All tutors are current students of the University of Queensland and hold valid working with children blue cards. They have also attended a compulsory training session to familiarise themselves with the roles and responsibilities of being a tutor and also been trained in cultural awareness.
What subjects can you get help with?
The main aim of the program is to help students improve their English language skills, and all tutors can teach this subject. However, several tutors who can also help you with other subjects such as Maths, Sciences, Geography and History etc.
