School Futsal Championships

Monday saw the annual South East Queensland School Futsal championships take place.

St James College had four teams entered into this competition. Thirty one students took part in numerous games of futsal. All teams represented our school with pride and true Jimmies spirit.

The Open Boys Maroon team finished second overall and have qualified for the knock-out rounds which will begin in Term 2. This will mean they will finish in the top eight in South East Queensland.

A special thank you to Mr James Anderson and Mr Marty Wiseman for their time and efforts in coaching some of the teams. Without their support this would not be possible.

In basketball news, the Jimmies Open Boys Basketball took on St Edmunds College. Another great performance and display of our basketball program saw a Jimmies win 90-40.

Director of Basketball, Kirron Byrne said "It was a marvellous show of school spirit and support that so many of the community would cheer both teams. This seems to be the norm at Jimmies but it certainly isn't across other schools were teams play in venues quiet enough to hear the squeaking of sneakers. The boys from both teams really enjoyed the atmosphere and playing with pride for our school."

Thank you to Mr Dean Aspland who helped officiate the game today.
