International Student Program

St James College is a Catholic Secondary School in the Edmund Rice Tradition. The college is CRICOS registered to provide education to international students in Australia on a student visa. Students attending this college are eligible to complete junior and senior secondary high school courses which meet the requirements of the Queensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority (QCAA) and which are recognised throughout Australia and internationally. 

With more than 30 years experience working with international students, the college has been recognised by the Queensland Government for our outstanding Pastoral Support Services for International Students. 

High school courses to prepare students for a variety of pathways including Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR), Vocational Education and Training (VET) and/or Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).  There is a dynamic and innovative curriculum and subject offerings with flexible access structures to meet the diverse needs and interests of all our learners.

Application and Acceptance Requirements 

To begin the application process, students and/or their agent should obtain and read a copy of the International Student Entry Requirements Policy and the International Student Handbook. 

Students (or their agents) wishing to make an application to study at St James College while on a student visa should contact the college for an enrolment package or download an International Student Application Form.

Meet Ms Tamia Song, International Student Engagement & Marketing Coordinator

Graduating from the University of Queensland with a Master of Arts in Chinese Translation and Interpreting (Advance), Tamia has a background in linguistics and has taught English, conversational Chinese and and prepared students for IELTS to students from diverse backgrounds in both China and Australia.

As a student-focused, well-presented and organised coordinator with cross-cultural communication skills, Tamia ensures international students at St James College feel valued and supported. 

As the head trainer for Advanced Diploma of Translating, training NAATI accredited translators, Tamia is a practicing professional translator in Australia. Her other qualifications include certificates in Business and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). 

Tamia’s extensive experience working with learners enables her to support and encourage all members of the St James College international student cohort and to better understand their needs and goals.
