Brisbane Broncos Academy Signs Jimmies Rising Star
CONGRATULATIONS to Year 9 student Ofa Kalauta, who has been signed by the Brisbane Broncos in their Academy for 2025!
Ofa’s exceptional talent was identified earlier this year in the SEQ U15's Division 1 season. She was also named Player of the Final in the senior girls team that secured the Division 1 title at the Matt Gillett Rugby Tournament.
In 2025, Ofa will join the inaugural St James College Rugby League Academy Program. Additionally, she will represent the St James College girls rugby league team as they compete for the first time in the Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Rugby League Confraternity Carnival in Rockhampton.
St James College Sports Development Officer Ana Fotu commended Ofa’s performance.
“Ofa was one of the highest scoring players in the Division 1 U15 girls competition this year. She reminds me of a Mele Hufunga with her line running style and attacking awareness.”
“Having a student contracted by a local NRLW club during their school years means they will be surrounded by their village of support, care, and encouragement, whilst balancing how to grow in life, both on and off the field.”
“St James are delighted to be part of the village supporting Ofa on her rugby league journey,” Fotu added.
