St James College hosted a welcome information session for newly arrived students and their families, featuring a special banquet generously prepared and served by 27 employees from college partner TechnologyOne Foundation

More than just a shared meal, this event reflected the strong partnership between St James College and the TechnologyOne Foundation, built on shared values of service, social justice, and advocacy.

College Principal Andrée Rice emphasised the importance of the welcome event, and community support in helping newly arrived families settle into their new lives. She acknowledged the role of St James College staff in fostering an inclusive environment that empowers students to thrive.

"Weeda Sayeed, a valued member of our Cultural Team, provided Dari interpretation for our guests.”

“As an expert Cultural Worker, Weeda demonstrated how strong resettlement practices, inclusive policies, and a supportive school environment can give newly arrived adolescents the foundation they need to build a bright future," Principal Rice said.

The TechnologyOne Foundation, established in 2016 by St James College alumnus Adrian Di Marco, is built on a commitment to long-term philanthropy and community service.

TechnologyOne is a faithful supporter of St James College and its programs, actively engaging with staff and students on initiatives that promote social responsibility and advocacy. Each year, TechnologyOne employees and St James College staff and students take part in The Kokoda Challenge, a demanding 48km trek through the Gold Coast hinterland to raise funds for the Kokoda Youth Foundation. The company also supports meal programs in the St James College kitchen, preparing and distributing food for people experiencing homelessness.
