College Spirit and Vibrant Community Showcased at Annual Parade
The St James College vibrant community was showcased as students and teachers participated in the 2023 Luminous Lantern parade at Southbank.
The Luminous Lantern Parade is an iconic event on Brisbane's calendar and is held in conjunction with Queensland Day to celebrate Queensland’s birthday and the unique culture, heritage, people, places, and industries who live and work in Queensland.
St James College Art Therapist Ms Sue Cameron lead the group this year and said, “each year, our contingent continues to grow at the parade.”
“Our spectacular dancers entranced the audience with their energy, colour and enthusiasm.
“It was a great celebration of college spirit and showcased our vibrant college community to the broader community.
“We were very happy this year to have many family members join us on the walk,” Ms Cameron said.
Further, St James College students attended a pre-walk event at St Laurence’s College where students had the opportunity to meet students from other colleges, share a meal and create a lantern together.
This annual event is in its 16th year and is one of Queensland’s largest welcome events, capturing the imagination of Queenslanders with its spectacular use of light to symbolise hope and create welcome for new Queenslanders.
