Each year, Brisbane Catholic Education honours the remarkable achievements of First Nations students who have reached the end of their secondary education. The Year 12 Graduation Liturgy was held at The Cathedral of St Stephen this week, marking the significant milestone.

Among the graduates were Mikahlia Saltner and Ella Bloomfield, the 2024 Indigenous Ambassadors, alongside Katrina Hopkins, Jessica Ivey, Jaslyn Cooper, and Ahnais Ebsworth. These young women stood tall, with their achievements celebrated by their families and the St James College community.

St James College Cultural Liaison, Wellbeing and Advocacy Officer Tara Wright congratulated the group on this important rite of passage in their lives.

“Celebrating the achievements of the young students, we all recognise that education is the most important thing and for these young people that step on that long journey is all credit to them and their families,”

“Success is journey not a destination,” Wright emphasised.

The graduates were joined by Principal Ann Rebgetz, Deputy Principal Kristina Johnson and Acting Assistant Principal Identity and Global Advocacy Matt Silao.
