The St James College library was transformed into a vibrant musical venue for the first in a series of ‘Live at Lunch’ performance events.  Students and staff gathered to enjoy stunning instrumental and vocal acts by several talented St James College student and staff musicians.

Hosted by the Jimmies’ Podcast team, the lunchtime session was livestreamed for parents, staff and students who could not attend in person.

Library Assistant Sarah Mouritz said the Live at Lunch initiative is a wonderful platform for student performers.

“We look forward to more incredible shows in the future,” she said.

The event kicked off with Angus Green, who captivated the audience with a beautiful solo guitar performance of, Interstellar. Following Angus, we enjoyed a soulful rendition of Pualena by Viktoriya Yermolyeva by singer, Max Lemoto, with Angus Green and Mr George Waqairagata accompanying him on guitar. The harmonies were heartfelt, and the collaborative performance had the audience swaying along, fully immersed in the music.

To close the event, Isabella Stuart-Adams, William Tilagucaguca, and Patricia Coogan took to the stage with their beautiful version of John Legend's All of Me, accompanied by Mr George Waqairagata on guitar. Their rich vocals and the gentle guitar arrangement brought a perfect, uplifting end to the performance, leaving the audience uplifted and energised for the rest of the school day.

The event was a success, thanks to the collaborative efforts of many. A big shout-out goes to the audio-visual team: Mr Marco Lam, Mia Jonker, Ryan Kwok, Georgi Creagh, and Nathan Waya, for ensuring the sound and setup ran smoothly and Mr Brodie McAllister for assisting in the organisation and talent for the event. Special thanks also to Hadia Paimani and Sarah Sadat for their fantastic job as MCs, keeping the energy high and the event flowing seamlessly and to the Library Team for hosting!
