St James Students Dive into Dentistry at the Dental Association of Queensland
Three enthusiastic students from St James College recently had the exciting opportunity to visit the Dental Association of Queensland in Bowen Hills. The day was packed with hands-on activities, giving students a closer look at the skills and equipment used in the field of dentistry.
During the visit, the students practiced cleaning and working on mannequins, giving them real insight into dental hygiene techniques. They also had the chance to extract teeth from molds, a task that provided them with valuable hands-on experience in dental procedures. Additionally, they learned about the process of x-raying teeth, giving them a broader understanding of dental diagnostics.
Along with these practical experiences, the students toured the association’s dentistry museum, where they explored the history and evolution of dental tools and practices. They also had the chance to meet with dental technicians who shared their career journeys, pathways, and insights into the dentistry profession.
St James College Director of Careers, Skills, Partnerships & Pathways Tony Ninasivinche said the experience offered a fantastic introduction to the dental field and inspired the students to consider future careers in dental care.
