St James College competed at the 2024 Matt Gillett Rugby League event, entering four outstanding teams: Junior Girls, Open Girls, Junior Boys, and Open Boys.

The Junior and Open Girls teams led the charge with incredible performances, with both teams clinching Division 1 titles showcasing their competitive edge.

Earning MVP honours for the event were Ungatea Tuitahi for the Junior Girls and Ofa Kalauta for the Open Girls.

The Junior Boys showed resilience in every match they played, while the Open Boys clinched an impressive Division 1 third place, highlighting their skill and teamwork.

St James College Sports Development Officer, Ana Fotu, reflected on the journey the players had been on this year. Further, she highlighted the commitment and camaraderie displayed both on and off the field since the introduction of the Rugby League Academy program.

“It was heartening to see our teams supporting and cheering each other on throughout the day,” she said.

“We are excited about the future and can’t wait to see what comes next for St James College Rugby League as we continue to grow and thrive,” Fotu added.
